After reading "A Mind for Numbers," I found a .pdf of "A Mathematician's Lament" through Reddit. You can read it here if you're interested! The opening scene of a painter waking up from a nightmare in which children must learn to paint by numbers before they can "actually" paint really captures how I used to feel in highschool math class. During the summer of 2023 before I started my freshman year, I spent time honing in my math skills through Khan Academy and YouTube. I started in Kindergarten and worked up to precalc. Because of my low SAT and ACT scores, I started with MATH 133 - intermediate algebra - in college. It's actually been super helpful to build a solid foundation before I get into the crazier more esoteric math. If you hated math in highschool like I did you should definitely check out "A Mathematician's Lament!"
